2011 - The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Docg Prosecco Spumante Superiore

One Italian bubble at a time

The renown and spread, in Italy and throughout the world in the past 10 years, of "Prosecco" spumante wine, as it used to be called by everybody, has imposed to regulate by law the protection of its denomination and the ratio identity/value of the best known Italian sparkling wine. So Prosecco Doc Spumante was created for the wide area of the 9 provinces of Regione Veneto, as far as Regione Friuli, and former Prosecco Doc Conegliano Valdobbiadene has risen to the Docg Conegliano Valdobbiadene Spumante Superiore Prosecco, only for the historical area of the 15 communes of Altamarca, in the province of Treviso. Both wines are still made mainly from grapes of the Glera variety (the ancient name of Prosecco grapes). A touch of clarity for customers.
