A life dedicated to wine

Giampietro Comolli launched the Franciacorta Protection Consortium and directed it from 1992 to 1999, founded the Federdoc in Rome, managed the 100 years anniversary of the Ferrari-Lunelli Winehouse, which he directed from 1999 to 2002, and devoted himself to the Consortium  of Bolgheri and to the “Terre dei Gavi” DOCG from 2003 to 2005.

From 2005 to 2009, he chaired the Spumanti d’Italia (National Exhibition of Italian Sparkling Wine).  Since 2007, he has been director of Altamarca, an association of companies and public-private territorial marketing agencies in Treviso - Regione Veneto – Northern Italy.

An Agronomist, B.Sc. in Economy and  Community Agricultural Policies, M.Sc. in Agroindustrial Marketing, he regularly lectures on both vine and wine at master and training courses, he is an oenologist and a freelance journalist: in a few words, Giampietro Comolli is a man with many talents.

Prior to 1982, he ran his family agricultural establishment and was a manager  of Anga-Confagricoltura. In 1980 he was on the technical staff of Minister Marcora at the European Parliament. Ten years later he cooperated with Minister Goria in the drafting of the national law on DOC wines. He was first in charge of the province Economic Department at the Federation “Coldiretti” in Piacenza, from 1983 to 1986, and then the director of the Protection Consortium of the Colli Piacentini DOC wines from 1986 to 1994.

He is considered one of the foremost experts on “Italian Bubbles’ Wine” and enjoys cooking and is a great appreciator of paintings from the Paris school.
